Bicycles have come a long
way from where they were initially. From being the mainstream method of
transport in the early days to being used as an essential commodity for many middle-class
families and now being used a fitness gadget by many, they have almost come to
a full cycle. Many of the 90's kids would remember hiring a bicycle from a
local that shop for one or two hours to perform all those stunts. And for most
of them that is where they would have learned to ride and balance a bicycle in
the first place.
Ever wondered the same concept of hiring bicycles would be someday used for
local tourism.? If you are a frequent and mad traveller, then you would be more
interested to know the local culture and people around the places you visit
rather than just roam around as herds on those usual sightseeing places. Well, BLive exactly
gives you that experience that you are looking for. They
are India's first e-bike tourism company offering curated and authentic
tours that can be experienced on smart, savvy, electric bikes.
The e-Bike tours provide an intimate local experience and it’s taken a notch
higher by combining it with the simple joy of cycling. The tours are driven by
the locals and offer a glimpse of the quintessential local culture. The effortless
riding on e-Bikes enhances the experience and makes it extraordinary. The
company is based out of Goa and is currently operating in many different cities
with Pondicherry being one.
The tour starts from the elegant Palais De Mahe on virulent yellow cycles lined
against butterscotch yellow walls. Currently there are only 15 cycles in Pondy
so it is better to call and pre book your cycles if you wish to experience
it. The duration of the tour is around three hours. Each participant is
thoughtfully handed a cloth sling bag along with the cycles that holds a
bottle of water and eventually their mobile phones and belongings. The eight-kilometre
tour will cover 13 landmarks including the statue of Joseph Marquis
Dupleix, French War Memorial, Jumma Masjid, Manakula Vinaygar Temple. It
also includes a welcome refreshment break at La Maison Perumal with a
piping filter coffee and local authentic snacks such as karunai kizhangu vadai or vazhapoo vadai. Plus, a hands-on kolam workshop.
The
cycles come in two modes: manual as well as electric. So, if you are tired
of peddling through the streets, you can quickly switch to
electric mode to zip around the town.
